We love to visit

Orchard Caravan Park

Orchard Caravan Park

For a great week or weekend away we always love to visit Orchard Caravan Park. Set within a mature fruit orchard on the outskirts of the old market town of Tuxford it’s a superb location for relaxing in the beautiful countryside.

The amenities block is first class and offers free hot showers, free hairdryers, wash basins and toilets. You can also pick up a range of food essentials from receptions. There’s a wonderful play trail that will keep the kids amused and if you have a dog there’s an area set aside for a short dog walk. The park has actually been awarded a David Bellamy silver conservation award; look out for the lovely array of flowers, birds and butterflies.

If you fancy a day out you’re well located to many wonderful attractions including Sherwood Forest, the historic market towns of Newark and Lincoln, and Newstead Abbey.

We would highly recommend this park.

Greenacres Caravan Park

Greenacres Caravan Park

Ideal for an overnight stop or a great place for exploring the surrounding countryside and visiting the many attractions close to hand, Greenacres Caravan Park on the outskirts of Tuxford is definitely one of our favourites. It’s only a small park but it’s always spic and span with a modern toilet block and laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer. The Fountain Pub is just 150 yards away and offers Real ale and fine dining.

There are loads of places to visit nearby including Newstead Abbey, the market town of Retford, Rufford Abbey Country Park and White Post Farm.

Greenacres is a great place, very convenient for all of the local attractions, we love it.

Riverside Caravan Park

Riverside Caravan Park

One of our favourite places to visit is Riverside Caravan Park on the edge of Worksop, right in the heart of Robin Hood County. It’s a unique, small, friendly, picturesque, landscaped four acre site with a mixture of level grass and all weather surfaced pitches. Staying here offers you the convenience of being in walking distance of the town but still offers a peaceful sheltered haven. Along the Northern edge of the park runs the Chesterfield Canal which is well stocked for excellent coarse fishing. And there’s the Sandhurst Lake across the canal if you prefer an alternative to river fishing. The County Cricket Club is just next door, so you can while away the afternoon watching the play before returning for evening drinks – something we do on a regular basis. It’s definitely worth a visit.

Hallcroft Fishery

Hallcroft Fishery

One of our favourite places to visit is Hallcroft Fishery camping and caravan park even though we’re not big on fishing. Situated on the outskirts of the market town of Retford there are many attractions to visit, all within a comfortable driving distance. Retford’s well worth a visit especially on market day and just down the road is Sherwood Forest where you can walk for miles, and if you’re just after a pub lunch there are 2 pubs within walking distance.

Hallcroft is acclaimed as one of the UK’s leading coarse fisheries and offers everything for the pleasure and match angler. But whether fishing is or isn’t your thing you’ll love the facilities on offer.

There’s plenty of open space on the site for caravans and motorhomes with an onsite toilet block with showers. The onsite Kingfisher café and bar serves a fantastic breakfast and also offers a licensed bar with a pool table and dart board. There is also a well stocked tackle shop for the discerning fisherman.

We come here every year and would definitely recommend it.

Trentfield Farm

Trentfield Farm

If you’re looking for a caravan and camping park in Nottinghamshire then we’d recommend Trentfield Farm. Located on the banks of the River Trent in the quiet hamlet of Church Laneham, Trentfield is an ideal base for Sherwood Forest, the historic town of Lincoln, Sundown Adventure Land and Clumber Park. Golfers are well catered for with a number of courses including Laugherton, Rufford and Lincoln and as they are on the side of the Trent, they also have a number of fishing pegs suitable for fishermen of all levels.

The park is eco friendly and has its own  “Otter holt” and you can often see badgers, pheasants and partridges on the side of the river bank. There is a nice, clean toilet and shower block that also has facilities for washing and drying clothes. They even have their own pub the Ferry Boat which is child and dog friendly and serves a great choice of food and local ales. The staff are always polite and friendly and nothings too much trouble, and you always receive a welcome pack full of local knowledge and information.

We’d totally recommend this site to anyone looking for a nice relaxing break.
